Recognizing The Gioi Di Dong (TGDD)’s ongoing efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in its business operations, along with various initiatives to minimize plastic bag usage across its retail network, HSBC has extended a Sustainability-Linked Loan to support TGDD’s working capital needs.

TGDD is Vietnam’s leading mobile phone and consumer electronics retail chain, operating over 3,000 stores nationwide and delivering millions of products to consumers annually. The company’s Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) have been developed in alignment with the international Sustainability-Linked Loan Principles (SLLP) and reviewed by an independent second party opinion (SPO) provider.

Mr. Tim Evans, CEO and Head of Wholesale Banking & Financial Institutions Group at HSBC Vietnam, shared: "This sustainability-linked trade finance transaction with TGDD reflects HSBC’s unwavering commitment to supporting Vietnamese businesses in adopting more sustainable business models. Over nearly two decades of strategic partnership, we have developed a deep understanding of TGDD’s long-term vision and are proud to offer tailored financial solutions to meet their growing needs."

Mr. Vu Dang Linh, Chief Financial Officer of The Gioi Di Dong, stated: "Sustainability is not just a trend, but our responsibility to the environment and society. This sustainability-linked loan supports TGDD’s working capital while reinforcing our strategy to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and minimize plastic bag usage throughout our retail network."
