Dear valued Shareholders and Customers,
Today some public media & news mentioned that MWG’s IT system has been hacked and our clients’ information has been stolen. By this announcement, we would like to clarify that this is
incorrect and our IT system is still fully under our control.
- After running comprehensive system scanning, MWG’s IT department confirmed the system is safe and not attacked by any third parties.
- Regarding customers’ card information such as card number, expiry date, etc., MWG does not keep track or store any of the above information in our system. When customers buy products directly at The Gioi Di Dong or Dien May Xanh shops and choose payment by card, POS – issued by the Banks – would proceed transaction and send data back directly to the Bank’s system. Similarly, in online payment, the transaction will be redirected to the payment gateways licensed by the State Bank for processing the transaction and no customers’ information will go through MWG internal system. In the payment process, all the card information of customers will be encrypted and transferred to the bank or intermediary payment service provider according to the regulations of the State Bank and the International Card Organization (ICO). The Gioi Di Dong and Dien May Xanh cannot involve or extract data from this procedure and we only receive confirmation from the banks whether the transactions have been completed or not. Therefore, the news about client’s card information has been stolen is incorrect and misleading.
- Regarding to customers’ email addresses, the hacker(s) can collect from various sources, we assert that this information is not obtained from the MWG’s system.
