As a retail enterprise, MWG is fully aware of the environmental impact of plastic bags and continuously seeks optimal solutions to reduce and replace them with more eco-friendly packaging. In alignment with its sustainable development goals, MWG has implemented initiatives to manage and minimize plastic bag usage across its store chains, contributing to a greener consumption ecosystem and reducing environmental impact.

By 2024, new retail chains such as Topzone and Thegioididong Luxury also transitioned to using paper bags, further contributing to the reduction of plastic waste. Bách Hóa Xanh launched the “Green Bag” initiative, carrying the message “Say no to plastic bags, join Bách Hóa Xanh in protecting the environment”. This program has been scaled across all Bách Hóa Xanh stores since July 2024. MWG also rolled out promotional campaigns offering fabric bags to promote sustainable consumption and raise community awareness about the harmful effects of single-use plastic, paving the way for a circular economy model in Vietnam.
